41st ANNUAL TURKEY TROT
Kick off your Thanksgiving celebrations with the 41st Annual Turkey Trot, which also marks the start of America’s Thanksgiving Parade. This tradition, spanning four decades, offers a variety of races, including 10K, 5K, 1-mile, and combo events. What makes it special is the thousands of participants who don costumes and bring a festive atmosphere to the event, often dubbed “The Parade before The Parade.”

THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE
Thanksgiving in Detroit wouldn’t be complete without the iconic America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 97th edition of this event will span 3 miles of Woodward Avenue from Kirby to Congress. The Parade begins at Kirby and Woodward at 8:45 a.m., taking about an hour and a half to reach its conclusion at Congress and Woodward. Thanks to sponsors, this Parade is free to attend or grandstand tickets can be purchased for prime viewing. If you can’t make it downtown, catch the live broadcast on Channel 4 news.

DETROIT LIONS THANKSGIVING DAY GAME
A tradition since 1934, The Detroit Lions will host their 84th annual Thanksgiving Day Classic on November 23rd against the Green Bay Packers. Game time will feature 6X GRAMMY-nominated rap superstar Jack Harlow as part of the Thanksgiving Halftime Show. The game will be televised on FOX at 12:30 PM ET.
If you’re looking to tailgate before the big game, you have two fantastic options:
Pride Plaza: Join the official Detroit Lions Tailgate at Brush Street in front of Ford Field. Admission is free and the event features beverage tents, music, Detroit food trucks, and interactive fan games.
Eastern Market Tailgate: Located northwest of Comerica Park and Ford Field, Eastern Market is the place to be for Lions tailgating. Shuttles run continuously between Ford Field and Eastern Market, and tailgaters can also make the quick 10-minute walk across the bridge to the stadium. Proceeds from tailgating go to support the mission of operating markets, providing greater access to good food, and growing local food businesses.
