Freezin’ for a Reason

Every year, our team shows up in a big way to support Special Olympics Michigan, and this year’s Polar Plunges and Frozen 5K was no exception.

With 94 participants jumping in or walking alongside, we raised more than $68,000 for Special Olympics Michigan. That’s higher than last year and one of the best totals we’ve ever had. We may have even hit a record for participation, which makes it even more exciting.

Of course, none of this happens without the incredible support behind the scenes. Hundreds of donors contributed to this effort, helping our plungers and walkers reach their goals and make a real impact for athletes across the state.

Standout Contributions Across the Board

This year brought incredible team and individual efforts worth celebrating:

  • The Ann Arbor plunge led all four of our events, raising over $28,000 with 47 participants.
  • Laurie Buys emerged as Ann Arbor’s top fundraiser, bringing in an impressive $4,044.
  • Jon Zickert from our Beulah office once again earned the title of top overall fundraiser, raising an outstanding $8,855.
  • A special shoutout goes to the late Jennifer Essary’s husband, Rodrigo Manriquez, their family, and the Smith Group, whose team of 17 participants raised $8,100.

A Meaningful Tribute

This year’s event carried even deeper significance as we honored Jennifer Essary, Director of the Real Estate One Charitable Foundation, and her passion for Special Olympics Michigan. Her dedication and spirit continue to inspire our team, and her impact was felt throughout this year’s efforts. It’s clear that this record-breaking success was fueled not just by enthusiasm, but by purpose.

Thank You for Making a Difference

From those who took the plunge into icy waters, to those who walked, donated, and cheered from the sidelines, this achievement belongs to all of you.

Together, we are making a lasting difference in the lives of Special Olympics athletes. And if this year is any indication, we’re just getting started.
